Smékalová, Barbora ; Surůvka, Jiří (referee) ; Kohoutková, Karolína (advisor)
In my final work I deal with the issue of media education, critical thinking. I mainly focus on the phenomenon of Jaromír Soukup and his shows on TV Barrandov and the strategies he uses to manipulate the viewer. In the final stage of the work I put everything into the village environment of Rudná pod Pradědem, whichs inhabitants I perceive as the target group of Jaromír Soukup. I confront them through a social event - a social experiment. Here a performance will be held, the main motive of it will be manipulation strategies, and it will be strongly inspired by the practices of so-called "šmejdi" and directly confronted with shots from JS shows.

Motejlek, Ondřej ; Křeček, Jan (advisor) ; Nečas, Vlastimil (referee)
This thesis wants to analyze the media service of the Empresa Media group during the three-day visit of chinese president Xi Jinping in the Czech Republic in march of 2016. At that time 49 percent share of Empresa Media was owned by chinese company CEFC. The visit was covered with a very high importance in all of the czech media. And not only in connection with the official schedule. Series of demonstration took place in Prague and also some fights occured between supporters of the chinese presindent and his opponents. However, media of the Empresa Media group almost without any exception ignored these events. Any manifestations of disagreement with the finese presindent's visit or China's politics is missing from its coverage. It results from analyzing magazine Tyden, its online version Tyden.cz, evening news of TV Barrandov and online coverage provided by Tyden.cz. This fact stands out even more when compared to some other important czech media.

Šmalclová, Martina ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Géla, František (referee)
The aim of the thesis is the comparison of two selected private television channels TV Barrandov and Prima Cool primarily according to content focus and audience structure and secondarily from the point of view of media discourse and speech acts. In the first theoretical part I define fundamental concepts such as television, digitization, audience, program schedule, target group, television viewership, media discourse and speech act. Further I characterize both television channels, define their program schedule, audience and present the results of rating. In the second practical part I use to compare program schedule a method of quantitative content analysis, which aims to compare the programming schedule of both television channels, define the differences in the structure of the program and answer research questions, which stands at its beginning. To comparison audience I use the questionnaire method. At the beginning of the method is determined by research sample and subsequently the method is applied. Results of the survey will allow an extensive description of the audiences of both television channels, determine which channel is more attractive and confirm if the results of the questionnaire method correspond with publicly available results of audience or are diametrical difference. Blending of political and media power: The case of Radek John and his programme Bez cenzury
Štrup, David ; Hájek, Roman (advisor) ; Moravec, Václav (referee)
This thesis considers the role of former politician and journalist Radek John in an investigative programme Bez cenzury on TV Barrandov. Even though John was a politician and leader of Czech political party Věci veřejné, he decided to return to journalism. He did so with no intention of resigning his chair in the Chamber of Deputies, part of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. With this in mind, this could be considered as a specific representation of political parallelism. This study describes specific cases where Radek John might have acted contrary to normative journalistic values and journalism ethics. Furthermore, the thesis analyses the possibility that Radek John's own political interests and opinions affected the television programme itself. The research is conducted using the method of a case study which combines qualitative and quantitative content analysis, qualitative interviews and other research methods. Consequently, the analysis found signs of biased reporting in the programme's introduction and some stories, which reflected Radek John's antipathy towards traditional political parties and their leaders. However, the research did not reveal any direct support of Věci veřejné or their representatives. Furthermore, the thesis also presents media, academic and political responses to...

Diploma thesis examines the form of television market in the age of digitalized terrestrial broadcasting with regard to the extent to which there can be found genre innovations, wider scale of origin countries and the placement of its own or foreign programme premieres. For this purpose, it concentrates on eight new digital channels distributed in terrestrial network; available nationwide, not monothematic and having audience share of at least around one percent. In the theoretical part, there is briefly summarized the history of the digitalization process in the Czech Republic, there are profiles of examined TV channels and thesis also presents extinct or minor digital channels shortly. For research purpose, thesis uses quantitative analysis methodology; it allows to explore larger amount of materials and achieve the general knowledge. The results consist of the comparison between the eight channels in three categories, description of the evolution of programme in the course of the time compared to the first month of broadcasting and contextual contrast using partial analysis of broadcasting of main and then only analogue available channels . The major positive aspect of the new channels is a higher degree of ambiguity genre. However, U.S. still holds important role as origin country of the programmes.
